Case Study

Digital Signage

RPC-M5C-EA

We live in a world of digital signage.

According to studies, the digitial signage market in 2016 was valued at 4.5 billion dollars, and is expected to reach 27 billion dollars in 2022.

Power managemant is a crucial factor for consideration when it comes to operating multiple signages across a region. When power and network failures cost businesses precious resources, averting downtime while saving maintenence crew costs becomes of paramount importance to maximize profit and dependability.

Keeping the signage off during off-hours is an effective way to cut expenses. However, manually operating digital signage in a cost effective manner can be a tedious affair. Dealing with complicated power schedules is a cause for confusion and costly mistakes. Network-enabled signages add to this complexity with controller-PCs that need to be turned on and off according to their schedule.

WatchBoot enables flexible per-outlet power scheduling for individual days of the week. Users can integrate Magic Packet (WOL) on-commands and shutdown scripts to control remote controller-PCs with ease. PING monitoring ensures system integrity and connectivity by rebooting frozen or unresponsive hardware.

What you can expect with WatchBoot:
By micromanaging power schedules for various hardware / equipment, users can expect significant cost savings that come with reduced overall power consumption. Scheduling regular reboots will ensure system integrity and dependability, greatly mitigating the risk of expensive downtime.

Apartment and Condominium

RPC-M5C-EA

Contemporary condominiums and apartments frequenty feature "free" WIFI routers for their occupants. In many cases managers install routers and other necessary components in storage rooms behind locks and gates. High network traffic during eveninings, high winds, and even bolts of lightning may cause the router to freeze, disabling internet connection on individual floors and even in entire buildings.

Unfortunately, these incidents often result in occupants unable access the internet until the manager or maintenance crews arrive on site the next day. ISP companies also receive many complaints on the issues they have no control over.

WatchBoot can automaticall remedy most cases of router freeze by automatically restarting the device when it detects an issue through PING monitoring.
Stay on top of issues by being notified through the automatic email notification system. Built-in internet infrastructure is rapidly becoming norm in modern apartment and condo design. No longer will router freezes be an issue under the watchful eye of WatchBoot!

Security Cameras

Resolve Security Camera Freeze ups with WatchBoot.

Have you had to go on site to manually restart security cameras due to image and network issues?
Monitoring systems are expected to continuously deliver quality video feed without interruptions.
In most cases, video feed lock ups occur due to router freeze ups and the camera it self becoming unresponsive.

Any security camera, whether it be expensive or not, new or old, may at times fail due to thunderstorms, blackouts, and other unpredictable events. Many times managers and adminstrators must rush to the site to correct the issue, sacrificing valuable time and fuel. Even after arriving on site, security cameras are often in spots difficult to access - they are often installed behind locked gates, on the side of walls and pillars, and even on top of rooves. Tangled power cables add to the problem, and so does inclement weather.

All these issues can be resolved with the REBOOTER.

Detect freeze ups, and reboot!
Attach routers and web cameras (or PoE HUB) to the REBOOTER (RPC-M5C-EA as shown in the above figure). The REBOOTER will monitor the router's connectivity by sending pings periodically. When it sees that the device is unresponsive, it will power off and power on the outlet the router is connected to.

Some web cameras may remain frozen, even while it responds to PINGs. This may occur when the camera has frozen up at the application level. In such cases, you can remotely initiate a reboot by accessing the REBOOTER through a browser.

Expect incredible results

Integrate the REBOOTER and expect to

  • enjoy savings from reduced maintenance costs
  • minimize downtime
  • fix issues promptly and minimize fallout from claims and complaints
